Description

So...after a few months of not touching it I've finally finished!

This picture has come such a long way since I started it in May. I created this for my mom. It's her black cat fursona. The first time I drew it I did it as a witch. If you compare the two they're very different because my style changed. The previous one looks more cartoon like. Think around the lines of the cat from Dot hack the anime. Here's the old one in case you're curious to compare: [link]

Anyway I have a lot of different places and people to thank and credit. Without all the textures I found I wouldn't have been able to make this image look as good as it does. And without some tutorials I never would have gotten things into proper perspective or made such an orgasmic looking background.

In all I'd say the amount of hours I spent on this is somewhere near 40-ish on and off. I spent an insane amount of time doing shading on every part of this image, plus time looking for ways to perfect my backgrounds. I even had to look up tutorials on how to use a filter called the Vanishing Point. I'd highly recommend you guys look into this as it helped me get my boat's textures within the proper perspective.

I really hope this gives a lot of you a good idea of the sorts of things I'm capable of doing. :3

To start I used a lot of different grunge brushes. I'm not certain who's I used since I had appended all the sets into my brush selection pallet and just chose at random which ones I felt worked best.

So here are the links to the grunge brushes I used, thanks to all those that made them!: [link] [link] [link] [link]

Next I'd like to credit and thank the three people who's tutorials I used to make my actual background which is the planets, night sky/galaxy, and my ocean waves. These tutorials are all wonderful and I must say that everyone should definitely check out Greg Martin's website. His art is fucking epic. It just is. o_o

Lastly I used a few textures for the ship, barrel, and crate, and then some rust filter/textures for the metalic parts of the barrel and crate. I also used a texture from Greg Martin's Make a Planet tutorial (a link can be found at the bottom of his galaxy one) which I used for the orangy space dust. Please note I also found a nice quality wood texture which I used for the boat's siding panels. Sadly I saved the jpeg but I no longer have the link to it.

Here's a link to the other textures: [link] (under the free download section), [link] [link]

So I thank everyone who had their brushes, textures, and tutorials up for free use. Please check out two of the clubs I watch (:iconkittytextures: and :iconphotoshop-tutorials: ) as they have a nice collection of things and are always glad to add more to the lot.

Lastly, for a gag and because my brother thought it would be amusing I added some faces to the planets. saved an extra copy of the image because it's just so friggin hysterical. XD Please go here to see it: [link]

Drawn with mechanical pencil, inked with PS CS3 and a Bamboo Fun Wacom tablet, and colored, textured, and finalized in PS CS3. Do not use, redistribute, share, steal, copy, alter/manipulate this image AT ALL. If you want to put it somewhere or something of that sort NOTE ME and we'll talk.
